Anthropic Agrees to $45 Billion AI Computing Deal With Nscale

Anthropic is set to spend $45 billion on AI computing capacity from Nscale over six years, as the company rapidly expands its infrastructure to keep pace with demand for Claude and other AI products.

Anthropic has agreed to spend $45 billion to rent AI cloud computing capacity from Nscale, with the infrastructure expected to be deployed at Nscale's data-centre development in West Virginia. The six-year agreement is expected to provide Anthropic with around 460 megawatts of computing capacity, with NVIDIA's next-generation Vera Rubin systems planned for the facility. The arrangement is part of Anthropic's broader effort to secure large amounts of computing power as demand for its AI services grows.

The deal represents another major expansion of Anthropic's infrastructure strategy, particularly as demand increases for products such as Claude Code, its AI coding tool. The company has been building computing partnerships across the industry, including arrangements involving Amazon, Google, AMD and other infrastructure providers. Anthropic and Nscale did not immediately comment on the reported agreement.

The scale of the Nscale agreement highlights how expensive the AI infrastructure race has become. Leading AI companies are increasingly securing computing capacity years in advance to support model training, inference and rapidly growing user demand. For Anthropic, access to hundreds of megawatts of next-generation computing capacity could become an important part of its strategy to compete with other major AI developers.
