Generalist Raises Nearly $200 Million as AI Robotics Startup Reaches $3 Billion Valuation

Generalist Raises Nearly $200 Million at $3 Billion Valuation

AI robotics startup Generalist has raised nearly $200 million in additional funding, pushing its valuation to $3 billion as investors increasingly target technologies designed to bring artificial intelligence into the physical world.

Generalist has secured nearly $200 million in fresh funding, led by venture capital firm 8VC, according to reports citing people familiar with the deal and a regulatory filing. The financing comes only weeks after the company raised $400 million in its Series B, which valued the startup at around $2 billion. The latest investment brings the total size of that Series B round to approximately $600 million and lifts Generalist's valuation by about 50% in a short period.

Founded in 2024 by former researchers and engineers from Google DeepMind and Boston Dynamics, Generalist is developing AI systems intended to help robots learn and perform a wide range of physical tasks. Rather than focusing primarily on manufacturing robots, the startup is working on the AI technology that can serve as the intelligence layer behind robotic machines. The latest funding highlights the growing investor interest in physical AI, as companies race to develop AI systems capable of understanding environments and carrying out tasks in the real world.
