Bengaluru AI Startup Overlayy Acquired by Monaco to Expand Sales Platform
Bengaluru-based B2B sales intelligence startup Overlayy has been acquired by San Francisco-based Monaco, an AI-native revenue platform focused on bringing sales functions into a single system. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
The deal brings Overlayy’s team and its expertise in using artificial intelligence to understand sales conversations into Monaco. The Bengaluru startup was founded in early 2024 by IIT Kanpur alumni Anmol Chaman and Snehil Saluja and built AI tools for sales representatives to research accounts, prepare for meetings and automate repetitive tasks.
Overlayy’s acquisition comes as sales technology is moving beyond traditional customer relationship management software towards AI systems that can understand customer interactions and take action across the sales process.
Overlayy Brings Sales Conversation Intelligence
Overlayy developed an AI copilot designed to help B2B sales teams work with information gathered from customer interactions. Its systems analyse sales conversations at scale and turn those conversations into intelligence that sales representatives can use.
The startup also developed SalesQA, a benchmark designed to evaluate AI systems using real B2B sales conversations. That work will now become part of Monaco’s efforts to capture and understand customer interactions across the revenue lifecycle.
The entire Overlayy team is joining Monaco following the acquisition, with the two co-founders moving into senior product and engineering roles. The integration gives Monaco access not only to Overlayy’s technology but also to a team that has been working specifically on AI for B2B sales.
Monaco Wants to Replace Fragmented Sales Tools
Monaco is building an AI-native revenue platform designed to bring several parts of the sales process into one system. Its platform covers activities including identifying a company’s potential market, running outbound campaigns, capturing customer interactions and managing the sales pipeline.
The company is positioning the platform as an alternative to the collection of CRM systems and specialised sales tools that businesses typically use separately. Its AI agents are designed to move beyond simply recording information and instead recommend or carry out actions throughout the sales process.
Monaco has attracted significant investor backing as it develops this approach. The company raised a $50 million Series B led by Benchmark in May, taking its total funding above $85 million, with Founders Fund and Human Capital among its existing investors.
Overlayy Acquisition Strengthens Monaco’s AI Push
Overlayy gives Monaco a deeper capability around one of the most information-rich parts of sales: conversations with potential and existing customers. Understanding those interactions can help an AI system identify customer needs, recognise opportunities and connect conversations with subsequent sales activity.
For Overlayy, joining Monaco also provides a much larger platform for technology that was developed by a relatively small Bengaluru team. The startup had focused on solving a specific problem in B2B sales, while Monaco is attempting to build a broader AI-native system around the entire revenue process.
The acquisition brings the two approaches together at a time when companies are increasingly looking to replace fragmented sales workflows with AI systems capable of understanding context and acting on it. For Monaco, Overlayy adds specialised sales intelligence and an experienced engineering team; for the Bengaluru startup, the deal moves its technology into a platform designed to operate across a much wider part of the sales cycle.
