Agility Robotics Showcases Digit 5 as Humanoid Robot Commercialisation Accelerates

Agility Puts Digit 5 at the Centre of Its Commercial Strategy

Agility Robotics showcased its next-generation humanoid robot Digit 5 during its Analyst & Investor Day on October 6, as the company outlined plans to expand commercial deployments, manufacturing and Physical AI capabilities.

The event brought together Agility executives and representatives from companies including Schaeffler and Foxconn, with discussions covering commercial adoption, manufacturing, safety, autonomy and the supply chain needed to scale humanoid robots.

Digit 5 was unveiled in September as a humanoid designed for cooperatively safe work around people. Agility says the robot builds on more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation with its earlier Digit systems across industrial environments.

More Than $300 Million in Orders

Agility said it has secured more than $300 million in multi-year orders for Digit 5, although the value is subject to contractual milestones. The company already has robots operating in commercial environments with major enterprises.

The company is targeting manufacturing, warehousing and logistics as key markets. Its strategy is to use experience from existing deployments to identify workflows where humanoid robots can perform useful physical tasks alongside existing automation systems.

Manufacturing and Physical AI

Scaling production was another major focus of the investor event. Agility's RoboFab facility is designed to eventually produce up to 10,000 Digit robots annually at full capacity, while the company has also expanded its physical AI development operations with a new facility in Fremont, California.

The company is also developing the software and autonomy layer behind Digit. Its Physical AI approach is intended to allow the robot to learn and execute a wider range of tasks as deployments expand, while its robot-management platform can coordinate Digit with existing autonomous mobile robots, conveyors and warehouse systems.

Safety Remains a Key Part of Deployment

Agility is positioning safety as a requirement for deploying humanoids in environments where robots and people work in close proximity. Digit 5 includes visual and auditory cues to communicate movement intentions, along with an independent safety controller designed to respond when people enter unsafe distances.

The company is also working with industry partners on its safety architecture. Digit 5 is a launch partner for NVIDIA's Halos for Robotics platform, which Agility says will support the robot's safety systems as it moves toward broader industrial use.

Commercial Rollout Ahead

Agility expects early access to Digit 5 to begin in the first half of 2027, with general availability for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operators targeted for the end of 2027. The company also plans to expand commercial availability beyond North America into the European Union and United Kingdom.

The October 6 event therefore focused less on introducing another experimental robot and more on the business and infrastructure required to deploy humanoids at scale. Agility is also preparing to become a publicly traded company through its planned business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
