D-Robotics Raises $400 Million to Scale Embodied AI and Next-Generation Robots
Chinese robotics technology company D-Robotics has raised $400 million in Series C funding, giving the company fresh capital to expand its computing chips and software infrastructure for embodied AI. The funding round was announced on September 17, with Chinese business publication Yicai reporting that Mirae Asset led the round.
D-Robotics develops computing hardware and software used by robot manufacturers rather than building complete robots itself. The new funding will support its Sunrise chip portfolio and a software platform designed to cover multiple stages of robot development, from data collection and model training to simulation, inference and deployment.
D-Robotics Expands Its Sunrise Chip Portfolio
A major focus of the funding is the expansion of D-Robotics’ Sunrise chip family across different computing requirements. The company wants its hardware to support a broad range of robotic systems, from established commercial robots to general-purpose humanoids.
D-Robotics said cumulative shipments of its Sunrise chips have exceeded 8 million units. Its embodied-AI business has also entered the mass-production stage, while the company reported that revenue in the first half of 2026 grew several times year over year. These figures are company-reported.
Software Platform Targets the Full Robot Development Chain
Alongside its chips, D-Robotics is building a software platform intended to bring more of the robotics development process together. The platform covers areas including data collection, model training, simulation, inference and deployment.
The approach is designed to give robot developers a combined hardware-and-software infrastructure for deploying AI models in physical machines. This includes applications involving perception, decision-making and real-time control.
Sunrise S600 Gains Embodied AI Customers
D-Robotics’ Sunrise S600 has become a key part of its embodied-AI strategy. The company said the chip was adopted by more than 20 customers within six months of its launch, including robotics companies such as UBTECH, TARS, Astribot, FOURIER, Booster Robotics and X Square Robot.
The reported customer base covers several types of robotics applications, including humanoid robots, industrial systems and other machines requiring AI processing at the edge. D-Robotics says most of the named customers have already entered mass production.
Funding Comes as Embodied AI Attracts More Capital
The large Series C reflects growing investor interest in the computing infrastructure required to move AI from software environments into physical machines. Humanoid and other embodied-AI systems need local processing for perception, model inference and movement control, creating demand for specialized chips.
D-Robotics is positioning its Sunrise platform as the computing layer for this market. The new capital gives the company room to expand its chip lineup while developing the software tools needed to support robot makers through more stages of product development.
D-Robotics Builds on Horizon Robotics’ Chip Expertise
D-Robotics was spun out of Horizon Robotics, a Chinese developer of chips for autonomous-driving and advanced driver-assistance systems. The company is applying that experience in edge AI computing to robotics, where processors need to handle AI workloads directly inside machines.
The Series C therefore represents an expansion of the company's semiconductor strategy into a market where computing performance, power efficiency and real-time AI processing are increasingly important to robot manufacturers.
