EUCLYD Raises More Than €200M to Build Energy-Efficient AI Silicon

EUCLYD raises more than €200 million to develop energy-efficient AI silicon

Eindhoven-based AI infrastructure company EUCLYD has raised more than €200 million in Series A funding to accelerate the development of its AI computing technology. The round is co-led by Samsung, Somerset Capital Partners, the Scaleup Europe Fund managed by EQT, and Innovation Industries, with several other investors also participating.

EUCLYD is developing custom silicon, memory architecture and data-center systems aimed at reducing the power and cost required to run large AI models. The company says its technology is focused particularly on inference, where trained AI models generate responses and perform tasks for users.

EUCLYD Targets AI Inference Efficiency

The company's approach covers multiple layers of AI infrastructure rather than focusing only on a processor. EUCLYD is developing its own compute architecture alongside what it calls Ultra Bandwidth Memory and complete data-center systems.

Its flagship CRAFTWERK platform is designed around custom processors and high-bandwidth memory. The company says the architecture is intended to deliver substantially higher power efficiency and lower cost per AI token than conventional solutions, although those performance claims remain company targets rather than independently established industry benchmarks.

EUCLYD argues that the rapid growth of foundation models is creating pressure on data centers because larger models require more computing power, memory bandwidth and electricity to operate at scale.

Former ASML CEO Joins as Chairman

The funding announcement also brings a major semiconductor industry figure into EUCLYD's leadership. Peter Wennink, former president and CEO of ASML, is joining the company as chairman of the board.

Wennink led ASML from 2013 until 2024 and was closely involved in the expansion of the Dutch semiconductor-equipment maker during a period of rapid growth in advanced chip manufacturing. His addition gives EUCLYD access to experience from one of Europe's most important semiconductor companies.

Funding to Accelerate Silicon Development

EUCLYD plans to use the new capital to advance its silicon roadmap and expand development of its broader AI infrastructure platform. The company is headquartered in Eindhoven and also has operations in the United States.

The funding comes as AI infrastructure companies look for alternatives to increasingly power-hungry computing systems. Demand for AI inference is expanding beyond training workloads, increasing interest in chips designed specifically to deliver AI responses efficiently.

European AI Hardware Gets Major Investment

EUCLYD's round is also notable for the scale of investment going into a European AI hardware company. The company is positioning itself as a European alternative in a market dominated by large US semiconductor and computing companies.

Turning the technology into commercially competitive hardware will now be the next challenge. EUCLYD will need to move from architecture and silicon development to reliable production and customer deployments while proving that its efficiency claims hold up in real-world data-center workloads.

The more than €200 million Series A gives the company significant capital for that next phase. With Samsung among the investors and Wennink joining its board, EUCLYD is strengthening both its funding base and its semiconductor-industry connections as it works toward commercialising its AI infrastructure technology.
