Finnish AI Cloud Company Verda Raises $189 Million to Scale Infrastructure

Verda raises $189 million to expand its full-stack AI cloud infrastructure.

Verda Secures $189 Million Series B

Finnish AI infrastructure company Verda has raised $189 million in new funding as it expands its full-stack cloud platform for artificial intelligence workloads. The financing includes an oversubscribed Series B round led by Emergence Capital, with participation from MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, ENDUR, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders and Tesi, alongside angel investors.

The latest round brings Verda’s total funding to more than $450 million. The company, formerly known as DataCrunch, was founded in Helsinki in 2020 and is positioning itself as a European alternative for organisations seeking dedicated AI compute and cloud infrastructure.

Funding to Expand AI Compute

Verda said the new capital will support development across its full-stack AI cloud, covering everything from physical compute infrastructure to platform services. The company plans to increase its compute capacity and continue investing in AI inference and services for frontier AI teams.

The expansion comes as demand for high-performance computing continues to rise alongside the growth of AI model training, inference and agent-based applications. Verda is targeting more than 250MW of operational capacity by 2027, according to industry reporting.

Building a European AI Cloud

Verda operates data-centre infrastructure in Finland and Iceland and is expanding its footprint across other markets. Its Finnish facilities use renewable energy, while the company has also highlighted natural cooling conditions in the Nordic region as part of its approach to running large-scale AI infrastructure.

The company has also been developing an AI infrastructure hub in Sweden and plans further expansion across Europe, the United States and Asia. Verda said it reached a $165 million annualised revenue run rate in July, highlighting the rapid growth it has seen alongside increasing demand for AI compute.

Verda Targets the Growing AI Infrastructure Market

Verda’s strategy is to control more of the AI infrastructure stack rather than operate solely as a conventional cloud provider. Its offering spans data-centre capacity, hardware, cloud services and AI-focused software, allowing customers to access computing resources for workloads ranging from development and training to large-scale inference.

The funding gives Verda additional capital to expand that infrastructure while competing in Europe's rapidly developing neocloud market. The company has already raised $117 million in an earlier 2026 round, making the latest financing part of a broader push to build out AI compute capacity.
