New Relic Names AWS Veteran Nandini Ramani as CEO

Nandini Ramani appointed CEO of New Relic after leadership role at AWS

New Relic has appointed Nandini Ramani as Chief Executive Officer and a member of its Board of Directors, placing an experienced technology and engineering executive at the helm as enterprises increasingly manage complex cloud and AI environments. Ramani joins the observability company from Amazon Web Services, where she most recently led a portfolio covering observability, search, governance and cloud operations.

New Relic announced the appointment on October 1, with Ramani succeeding Ashan Willy. Willy will continue working with the company as an advisor to its Board.

Ramani Brings AWS Observability Experience

At AWS, Ramani was responsible for major services including Amazon CloudWatch, OpenSearch and CloudTrail. Her portfolio included work around observability and the agentic transformation of these services, giving her experience directly connected to New Relic’s core business.

Her career has also included senior engineering and product leadership positions at X, Oracle and Sun Microsystems, as well as a chief operating role at Outcome Health. Across those positions, she has worked across product development, engineering, infrastructure and business strategy.

AI Changes the Role of Observability

Ramani takes over New Relic as AI adoption is adding new layers of complexity to enterprise software environments. AI-powered applications can involve multiple models, agents, APIs and cloud services, making visibility into system performance increasingly important for engineering teams.

New Relic has been expanding its own AI capabilities as it develops what it describes as intelligent observability. Its platform combines telemetry and analytical tools to help organisations monitor applications, infrastructure and digital experiences.

New Relic Enters a New Leadership Phase

New Relic said Ramani will lead the company into its next phase while focusing on product innovation and customer value. Her appointment also comes as the company continues positioning observability as a broader technology discipline that extends across increasingly complex digital environments.

Ramani said AI is transforming application architectures and increasing complexity for engineering teams. Her stated focus includes expanding New Relic’s AI-powered observability platform and helping customers operate their digital environments with greater visibility.

From Engineering to Enterprise Leadership

Ramani brings several decades of experience across enterprise technology, engineering and product leadership. New Relic highlights her experience building global organisations and developing platforms and services designed to operate at scale.

Her appointment gives New Relic a CEO with direct experience in observability and cloud infrastructure at a time when enterprises are adopting AI across increasingly distributed technology stacks.
